We believe that working in a sustainable and responsible way is essential to building a strong business for our customers, our people and our society.
Our World, Our Future is our global programme to bring sustainability into every aspect of our work.
We are investing in the long term in our business around the world, driving best practice, investing in innovation and measuring our progress, always seeking to do more. We look for ways to innovate and improve across all of our commitments. We are dedicated to sharing what we do with our customers, suppliers and partners to encourage sustainable practice. We focus on four commitments to:
Minimise impacts on our environment
by better managing natural resources and emissions
Invest in our people
by embracing diversity, encouraging personal development
and providing them with the tools to drive change
Ensure the safety of our people
and strive for zero harm at work
Build a vibrant, secure and resilient society
through strategic investment in the issues that affect our people and our industry
Every two years, DP World Antwerp publishes its sustainability report, presenting the results and achievements in this period. DP World Antwerp was the first container terminal in the port of Antwerp publishing a sustainability report. We hope to remain a leader in sustainability in the coming years. The report illustrates our commitments with regard to the most relevant Sustainable Development Goals for DP World. To make our performance measurable and our commitments tangible, we rely on the international GRI reference framework for sustainability reporting.
2013 - 2016
Some highlights in the first sustainability report covering 2013-2016 include DP World Antwerp's leadership position in safety within the port of Antwerp, its sustainable investments – such as efficient and energy saving automated stacking cranes, a wind turbine and a biogas plant, and its well trained and committed staff.
2017 - 2018
DP World Antwerp saved 10.6 million kg CO2 in four years time and made 90,000 truck transports redundant on Belgian roads in 2017-2018. For this second sustainability report, the terminal operator consulted its stakeholders to determine the focus areas and most relevant results.
