Within the maritime logistics chain there is still a huge innovation potential due to digitization and new technologies. DP World Antwerp wants to stimulate research into innovative solutions in the logistics chain. Therefore the container handler enters into a partnership with imec within the imec.istart program on "Logistics, Mobility and Smart Cities".
As a leading container handler, DP World Antwerp will offer coaching, sector knowledge, expertise and financial support in exchange for access to the latest technologies and developments. This should in time lead to both internal and external innovation in the business. The collaboration with imec is in line with the general vision of DP World to think ahead and become a leader in the world trade of the future. Imec.istart is imec's open innovation business acceleration program that supports start-ups to successfully market their idea via coaching, investments, infrastructure and other facilities (www.imec-int.com/en/istart).
Other partners in the imec.istart program "Logistics, Mobility and Smart Cities" are Bpost, Belfius Bank & Insurance, Brussels Airport Company, VIL and Antwerp University; players with a lot of experience and a large logistics network in Belgium. These industries are the key to an innovative and efficient logistics network.
"By participating in the imec.istart program, DP World Antwerp is committed to supporting initiatives that boost technological innovation and contribute to the logistics maritime chain," says Patrick Putman, DP World Antwerp's Chief Information Officer.
